    Hi,
You will not need to buy a cabinet or unit for a built in dishwasher however you will need a integrated door/fascia.

There are two sizes that most people tend to buy, the 12-14 place dishwasher which suites a family of 4+ which is usually a 710mm x 595mm door.

The other is a slimline dishwasher which has between 8 + 9 place setting and is suitable for 1-4 people and requires a 445mm x 710mm.

You will need a space of 600mm for the larger d/washer and 450mm for the slimline and if its a new area without worktop you will need the top and if its not between walls you will need an end support panel and angle brackets to fix the top to the wall.

Just another point, if you are a family of 4 or less and you don’t mind washing the large pans or grill pan? then go for the slimline it uses less water and you tend to use it more often and cuts down on buying another set of cutlery and crockery ;-)
